Why not join The Biggest Loser Club now and see what it’s all about!

Series four of the Biggest Loser Australia is now available to watch on Sky Real Lives in the UK, so we decided to take a peak to see what the Biggest Loser Australia is all about (and if it lives up to our UK favourite)!

Although it’s a lot hotter and sunnier (so no snow to exercise in!) the format of the Biggest Loser Australia is not much different to the UK version. There are ten couples, all competing to become the Biggest Loser, shed the pounds and win that coveted prize money. The contestants work out daily (so expect plenty of hard-work, sweat and tears!) as well as competing in challenges and temptations to secure immunity.

The Biggest Loser Australia Couples

The ten couples in the Biggest Loser Australia are all friends, brothers, sisters, work friends or partners, so like in the UK version there’s plenty of turmoil and trauma as well as some brilliant funny moments, great weekly losses and plenty of fall outs!

There are plenty of lively contestants to watch out for. Brothers Andrew and Nathan immediately emerge as the big game players, competing in temptations and challenges to secure the power of the game. They’re certainly not in the competition to make friends! As always there are couples who struggle to meet the challenge of exercise and hard work (watch out for Holly and Mel), and those who put their all in to every workout: Amanda, the heaviest female ever in Biggest Loser Australia with a starting weight of 26 Stone 11.7lbs shows amazing strength and motivation to overcome her weight.

Biggest Loser Australia Challenges!

As if there wasn’t already enough competition and rivalry the contestants are subjected to weekly challenges. Winning these challenges can secure the contestants prestigious prizes, such as a few kg advantage on the weigh-in days, phone calls home or immunity – all prizes that the contestants are keen to get their hands on! Challenges are tough and involve plenty of teamwork – often resulting in a few choice words between contestants! Be prepared to watch them wade through mud, stack tins, balance on blocks and test their brains!

Double or Nothing!

As if the prize of $200,000 wasn’t enough, the contestants have a chance to double this prize money – if they play their game right! There are two bracelets – double and nothing. If the winning contestant is wearing the double bracelet, he or she will win double the prize money! If the winning contestant is wearing the nothing bracelet, he or she will win nothing! The Bracelet’s are originally introduced to the game when they are presented to brothers Andrew and Nathan who are given the task of choosing which contestant should wear which. If a contestant wearing a bracelet is eliminated, they then pass it on to a contestant of their choice and so the bracelets move around the group! Expect this to encourage plenty of game playing!

The Warehouse

Every week at The Warehouse, contestants must choose between two food options – the one they choose will be their staple food for the whole of the next week. Making the wrong choice could impact on their weigh-in results! The first week’s choice was between barbecued chicken and eggs. Did the contestants make the sensible choice? Don’t worry; we won’t spoil it for you!

Temptations

Temptations are always a big part of the Biggest Loser journey and the Australian version is no different. Couples face temptations which they might face in the outside world! The prize for winning temptation is immunity at elimination, but this comes at a price of potentially consuming thousands of calories. This series, contestants are confronted with burgers, doughnuts, pizzas, milkshakes and chocolate – but do they cave in?

The Walk

If contestants win their Temptation they are given the responsibility of ‘The Walk’ – sounds scary! At the end of ‘The Walk’ contestants usually pick at random something that will impact the Biggest Loser game! This might be the power to move the double or nothing bracelets between contestants, to alter the teams or even to bring back eliminated contestants! Some relish the power, and for some it’s a hard decision!

Of course the Biggest Loser wouldn’t be The Biggest Loser without the usual twists and turns as well as plenty of motivation to get you going on your weight loss journey. It also makes for great TV with plenty of drama, excitement and rivalry in the competition to win the prize money and become Australia’s Biggest Loser!
