Friday 22nd May 2009

It was the weigh in on Friday at the Biggest Loser House and there was a surprise or two in store for the contestants.

Cupcake

Richard’s team were still one down as Mark wasn’t able to train again. His ribs were still painful. Mark said,

‘I’m absolutely devastated that I can’t train this week. I’ve missed six sessions in all. I’ve done two sessions on my own to try to make that up but, you can never get the intensity when you train on your own,’

Kevin said that Last Chance Training was very tough. Richard really put him through it because he hadn’t forgotten about the cupcake incident at the Temptation Challenge He said that it was definitely not going to happen again – no more temptation!

Every time Kevin started flagging during the training, Richard asked him if he had run out of energy,

‘You can’t run out of energy. You’ve got like calories galore! You’re powered by cupcakes for goodness sake! Come on Cupcake!’

Kevin said later,

‘I hope I’ve done enough for Richard to stop calling me Cupcake! I want that to wear off. Don’t start calling me that, please!’

Richard said that he had planned a really tough Last Chance Workout to get some pounds off them. He said he was really going to make them pay with blood, sweat and tears! He worked them so hard that Jamie and Kevin were sick. Katey said,

‘Last Chance Training and they’re always tough and you always dread them and you hate Richard all the way through it. But, then you love him afterwards because you just get so much out of it and you know you’ve burnt off so many calories and that is going to show up on the scales,’

Exhausted

On Angie’s training team, she only has Sadie, Miriam and Dave left. Dave said,

‘We’re always praying that Angie’s going to feel some sympathy for us and give us an easy time but, we know it’s never going to happen!’

Their Last Chance Workout consisted of cardio followed by resistance training then back onto cardio and so on. There was no rest and it was relentless. Angie said she was trying to up their heart rate and burn fat. She upped the levels on all of their cardio equipment. Dave is normally on the bike at 7, she upped it 14 and he was working so hard that the bike was shaking all over the place!

Angie still feels that Miriam struggles with pushing herself hard. She seems to want to avoid going to ‘that painful place’. But Angie said later,

‘Miriam would be tough for me to lose. I have such a close bond with her now. She’s come such a long way,’

Angie worked her team really hard. She definitely doesn’t want to lose any more seeing as she now only has three of them. Dave said,

‘Sweat was just pouring off me. I think she was trying to kill us actually! Today was the first time I felt I may not get through the training!’

Angie said that Sadie was getting really good at pushing herself. She said that she trains hard and seems to want it now. She said that she had real potential to go all the way.

At the end of the training session, all three of them looked completely exhausted – as if they had not one iota of energy left. Dave said,

‘When the training session was over, I was ecstatic because I’d managed to get through it and I was very pleased. But the funny thing is, once you’ve done it and your body all goes back to normal, you wouldn’t mind doing it again!’

Don’t let Angie hear you saying that, Dave, she may take you up on it!

When Jamie got his result on the scales he was, quite rightly, very pleased with himself. He looked across at the Browns and said,

‘Do you feel scared now Browns?’

Katey was very disappointed with her weight loss. Carol said that she thought this week was going to be her big weight loss week. Katey said,

‘I don’t get it and again it’s 4lbs!’

Miriam was absolutely gutted with her weight loss, or rather lack of it and she wasn’t happy that Sadie was below the Yellow Line with her. She said,

‘I’m gutted that I’m below the Yellow Line with Sadie. She doesn’t deserve to be there. She’s worked really hard this week. She had a bad week last week and the week before and she really needs this!’

Sadie said later,

‘I’m very, very annoyed. I’d rather not be packing for the third time in a row. I worked as hard as I possibly could and I did everything Angie said, every single thing. Ate when she told me to, worked out as hard as I was supposed to. I laid off the powerbags and yet I’m still here. It’s a little weight loss but in here it’s not as significant because you need to lose loads or you don’t stay!’

Moral Support

Miriam was very upset because she feels like she has let Eunice down. If she leaves this week, Eunice won’t be able to come back and carry on where she left off. She said that what made it all worse was that she and Sadie were close friends and she didn’t want to be up against her in the Elimination.

Miriam was packing her stuff up ready for the final decision when Mark popped into her room to see her. He gave her a great big hug and said,

‘If you go I’ll miss you. If you stay I’ll be delighted,’

Miriam, obviously trying to look on the bright side said that she was looking forward to a roast dinner. She said that one treat wouldn’t hurt. Mark said,

‘If you do go, just have one treat day and then back on it and I’ll look forward to seeing you at the final when you’re looking fantastic!’

She said,

‘Yeah, I’ll look forward to seeing you in the final – several stone lighter and your six pack!’

‘Party pack seven maybe!’ he replied.

Final Pleas

Sadie was up first. She said she couldn’t believe she was up for Elimination three weeks in a row and that she was very frustrated. She said that she had a lot of weight to lose and that they all knew she was prepared to work hard. She said that she was mad that she was there again and that it felt like a real kick in the teeth.

Miriam said that she was determined not to cry. But, the final please are always emotional and she didn’t manage it for very long. She said it felt very weird standing there on her own. She told the group that when they were thinking of their decision that they needed to think of both of them – Miriam and Eunice. It was Eunice’s last chance to lose weight and get the treatment she needed to have a baby. Miriam said that she was also there for herself. That her self confidence had been completely shattered and she had wanted to lose weight to help build it up again. Her last words in her final plea were,

‘I don’t want to be a failure and let Eunice down,’

When she had finished, Mark walked over to her to give her a hug. She sobbed in his arms and there was not a dry eye in the room. These final please are definitely getting more and more emotional as the remaining contestants get to know each other better and bonds are starting to form.

It’s Elimination time today. Who will the other contestants have voted to send home?
