Yesterday was the results of the 5th Elimination in the Biggest Loser house and Mark went on his first Biggest Loser Trek on his own.
Biggest Loser Elimination Number 5
All of the black team, because they were up for Elimination, had to pack their bags as any one of them could have been going home. All of them wanted to stay, to keep losing the weight a learning how to do it. Maria told Michaela, through her tears,
‘I’ve learnt a lot here and I’m so grateful for all the people that have helped me change my life – literally,’
Each member of the Black team will be leaving behind friends and some will be leaving family if they get Eliminated and, of course, they all have their reasons for wanting to stay. Dave wants to be able to continue pushing Jamie, Carol is worried that Katey won’t stay without her and Maria will be leaving her best friend behind to fend for herself.
Elimination Room
The Black team had to Eliminate one of their own. Not a task any of them were relishing. Kevin said,
‘Every single one of us, in that team, at the moment deserves to be there because we’re all working really hard and I don’t think any of us deserves to go,’
Carol said there was a lot of tension in the Elimination room because she felt it was very difficult to face the rest of the team knowing that you were voting one of them out. All of the team had one vote each and, in the event of a tie, the Blue team would get the casting vote. The person with the most votes must leave the Biggest Loser house.
Carol felt she had let the team down after having lost only 1lb last week. She said she didn’t want to leave on a low note. She said she needed to go out on a high note because she was worried that she would console herself with comfort food and undo all the hard work she had put in.
Dave was the first to reveal his vote. He said it was going to be a hard decision for anyone to make and the only way he could do it was by voting for the person with the lowest weight loss. That meant his vote was for Carol to leave.
Maria was next. She said the person she was voting for was very strong and that they would be able to carry on when they left the Biggest Loser house. She voted for Dave.
It was Sadie’s turn next. She said the reason she was voting for this person was because the team would be okay without them. She voted for Carol to leave. So that was two votes for Carol.
Kevin was up next and he was obviously very uncomfortable with the situation. He said he didn’t want anyone to go. He said the person he decided to nominate was an outstanding person who brought strength to the team but didn’t perform as well as he thought they would at the weigh in. He chose Dave. That meant two votes each for Carol and Dave.
Carol was the last one to vote. She said it was really hard to choose between any one of the team because they had all worked really hard and they had all brought something to the team. But, she said she knew someone had to go and her vote was Sadie.
That meant it was tied, leaving the Blue team with the casting vote. They had to make a decision between Carol and Dave. Their own children would have to choose between them! Katey said,
‘When I found out the Black team had left it to a split decision for us to vote someone out, I couldn’t believe it!’
Jamie felt very similar. He said,
‘When Mark revealed that it was a tie, my heart stopped and I had a lump in my throat and I was hoping and praying that it wouldn’t end up being between my dad and Carol!’
Mark said he understood it was going to be difficult for both Katey and Jamie because of who they had to choose between. But Mark also said that, tactically, Dave was a really strong man and the Blues stood a better chance if he went home. Katey and Jamie were both incredibly upset over the decision but they chose Dave. Jamie said he wanted to tell him because he thought it would be better coming from him.
Breaking the News
Jamie limped into the Elimination room to deliver the verdict. He was in a bit of a state but managed to let the Black team know what they had decided. He said,
‘We did come to the decision mainly on who would be the biggest threat from stopping the Blue team making it to the final weeks. There were other issues – one is Dave is my dad and Carol is Katey’s mum and how would we both react without them being here? But we did come to a decision and it’s the right one I feel,’
So, Dave had to leave the Biggest Loser house. Jamie and Dave were very emotional as they all said goodbye to the ‘father figure’ of the house. Carol, also very upset said,
‘I feel responsible for putting the team here and I never wanted Jamie to be put in the position of doing what he’s done today,’
Kate Garraway asked Dave how he felt his time in the Biggest Loser house had been. He said,
‘Apart from the times I’ve had to boost Jamie up, I’ve had a wonderful time and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve lost weight and I know how to go on losing weight,’
Kate Garraway said to him that he had lost nearly two stone and he said,
‘At my age that’s not bad!’
Dave has definitely been viewed as a great contestant by the others and Jamie said he was his hero. Dave will be greatly missed and it’s sad that we won’t be seeing him and his antics in the Biggest Loser house. Dave said,
‘I’m going to miss most of the people in here. More my team but, mostly Jamie,’
Controversy
Jamie, Kevin and Katey were in Jamie’s room and Kevin admitted he had voted for Dave. Jamie said that was fine but what he didn’t like was the fact that Mark had enjoyed it so much.
Then, Mark popped his head round the door of the room and asked if Jamie wanted any tea cooking. Kevin thought it was hilarious that Jamie had got Mark cooking for him! Kevin said later,
‘I think this is probably one of the funniest moments I’ve ever seen in this house! It was gold, I loved it. Every minute of it!’
He told Jamie and Katey that he had noticed that about Mark. He said that, whenever anyone suffers anything in the Biggest Loser house, Mark will cook for them. He went on to say,
‘It’s a comfort food type of psychology. Best way to a person’s heart is through their stomach,’
Katey said,
‘I don’t trust him at all! What we’ve got to stick to is, keep your friends close but your enemies closer!’
So he’s still not Mr Popular in the Biggest Loser house!
Biggest Loser Trek
Yesterday was the normal Biggest Loser Trek but, this time only one person got to go as the old teams are now non-existent. The Biggest Loser this week is Mark. Kevin said later,
‘So it was Marks’ turn to do the Trek. I was a little bit nervous about doing it. He’s not been seeing eye to eye with his own team as of late and he would do his very best to kind of throw the spanner in the works with us and try and help out his own team,’
It does seem like there are a lot of issues between the contestants and it seems to centre on Mark. No one trusts him and Jamie thinks that Mark would get him out of the house at the first opportunity. Katey said that some of them feel that if Mark wasn’t there the rest of the team would be more united, so no one was looking forward to what he would come back with.
Mark found the Trek instructions. They said:
There are 3 cards on the tree. Behind each card is an instruction that will affect the food intake for the Blue team or the Black team or both teams for the next two days. You may only pick one card. Good luck!
Mark chose number two which said:
All of the Blue team must use Tofu as the main source of protein for lunch and dinner for the next two days.
The rest of Mark’s team were not over the moon about having to use Tofu, even though it is a low-calorie form of protein so should help them lose extra this week. Mark said he was worried about Michaela because she is very fussy about what she eats and he wasn’t sure Jamie was happy about it either. But, Jamie does have a good reason for it,
‘Tofu, probably is the worst thing I could possibly be made to eat because it gives me bad flatulence!’ Nice!
All is Revealed
Angie and Richard were both very nervous about finding out who had been Eliminated. It was the first Elimination for the new teams and both of them were worried about losing team members.
Once the teams had assembled in the billiard room, Angie said that she was devastated to have lost Dave. Carol was very upset and Angie told her that the fact that Dave had gone did not reflect on her and that she shouldn’t take it on board. She told her she had a heart like a lion and that she couldn’t wait to get working with her to get some better numbers in the weigh ins.
Once they had found out who was still in the house and what weights they had done in the weigh in, Richard said,
‘The fact of the matter is I’m glad you guys are here, the Blue team, but no one here is at 100%. Katey, you’re doing the world’s best impression of Quasimodo. Mark, that rib, it looks like you’ve done ten rounds with Tyson. And Jamie, what can I say about you Jamie? Come on, I mean, you look a state!’
Angie said,
‘So, Rich, it’s not going to be fair in terms of challenges. We’re going to walk all over you and that just isn’t really gonna work or anyone. The competition, for us. It’s a problem,’
Richard agreed and said all he wanted was an even playing field. So he dropped a little bombshell on the contestants and told them he was going to bring back one of the Eliminated contestants. A look of shock ran round the faces in the room. The Blue team were happy to be getting someone to add to their ranks. But, the Black team were worried it could cause them problems!
Angie’s Mafia
Angie was really pleased with her team during training. She told them she felt it was their week to shine. She said the way they ran out to her, all in time, they looked like the Mafia out to get the ‘Blue Smurfs’!
The session she planned for them was all about fat burning and not muscle building. The Blacks felt they had something to prove and she said later,
‘The Blue team, especially Mark, feel like they’ve got rid of their biggest competition in Dave and yeah, he was big competition but they mustn’t underestimate Kev,’
Kevin said he was gunning for Mark this week because if he could get the Blue team beneath the Black for weight loss, the Blues would send Mark home.
Angie was really encouraging her team during training because they were all giving her 100%. Maria was doing particularly well because she is blooming under Angie’s care and praise. Not a position Maria expected to be in when she was petrified of being on Angie’s team! Angie said she was feeling really excited about this week, that her team looked amazing. She said they’re very bonded, they’re very united and they’re strong.
Richard’s Walking Wounded
It was definitely not the same story for Richard’s team. He had arranged a weights and resistance session at speed for his team to give them a cardio-vascular workout. Richard said he relies on Mark for the big numbers but 8lbs last week means he’s dropping off and his injury is hampering him massively.
Katey has hurt her neck and Richard is worried that her spirits will drop and there will be a return to the old Katey. So, Richard feels he’s really got to keep her motivated, strong and involved in the group.
With Jamie, Richard said he was losing his mind and his will to live! He said Jamie had so much potential but so many excuses. He told Jamie that the injuries were not what were stopping him but it was in his head to quit. He said he felt like sending him back to Angie. Jamie got quite angry and told him to do it, he didn’t care! Perhaps answering Richard back was not the best move! Richard told his team they were a bunch of misfits and they were all broken – he was not terribly happy with them all.
The contestant Richard wants to bring back arrives in the next episode – how will the teams react? And the Biggest Loser takes on a Strictly Come Dancing flavour!
