It was the third Elimination day in the Biggest Loser house last night and boy, was there some drama! The elimination didn’t quite go to plan for the contestants and the trainers got a shock.
Emotions
The contestants definitely found this elimination one of the hardest so far. Maria said,
‘I just can’t believe how attached you can get just after three weeks!’ and Carol said,
‘The more time we spend together the closer we are getting and, of course, Jennifer and Sadie are in a similar position to me and Katey – we’re both Mother and Daughter,’
Kevin, very obviously upset about the decision to be made said,
‘This is killing me inside!’
The pressure was also obvious with the two teams up for elimination. Sadie said,
‘Last week when we fell below the Yellow Line, I was a lot more confident that I thought, right, we’ve made some good friends here and we’ll have a decent chance of staying. But, this week we’re up against people we love ourselves, so I’m not as confident this week,’
Elimination Room
Both the Yellows and Greens met Kate Garraway in the Elimination Room to talk over how they felt. It’s the 2nd time for the Yellows but the 1st time for the Greens. Carol said that she felt it was difficult because the pull from home is so strong – she is really missing her family. But, she said she had to stay for herself and for Katey.
The other contestants filed into the room to cast their votes. This week there was an even number again so, Kate Garraway said that in the event of a tie, the Biggest Losers from this week would have the casting vote as they did when it was Rick and Michelle two weeks ago.
The Greys were up to vote first. Dave said,
‘It’s amazing over the last three weeks how close we’ve come to everybody and we’re going to feel guilty whoever we send home. But we think one of the couples, one person out of that couple is pushing herself too hard and deserves a rest,’
They chose to eliminate the Greens - Carol and Katey.
The Pink ladies were up next. They agreed with Dave and Jamie about how difficult it was and feeling guilty about who they voted to send home. Michaela said the reason for their decision was because the couple they chose had had a bad week with lots of ups and downs. They decided on Jennifer and Sadie to be eliminated.
Miriam voted next. She said,
‘I feel like I’m betraying two friends, two really good friends because I love you all. They’ve both had incredible weeks. Jen has gone from being bottom of Ange’s estimations to winning the Trainer Challenge. Katey’s gone from being determined to go home to desperate to stay. From day one, the couple I want to stay have been 100% committed and have given everything, every day,’
She chose to send Carol and Katey home.
Then it was Mark and Kevin’s turn. If they voted for the Greens, they were out. If they voted for the Yellows, it was a tied vote. They voted for Jennifer and Sadie – a tied vote!
Casting Vote
As the Biggest Losers for this week, it was the Browns who got to make the casting vote. Mark said they had talked about it long and hard and were going to stick to their original choice. It would be Jennifer and Sadie leaving the house this week.
Kate Garraway said to the Yellows that they had been eliminated and said that they would have to leave. Then, she said there was a twist this week. All of the contestants looked at each in confusion. Probably dreading what the twist was going to be.
Twist in the Tail
Kate Garraway said to the Yellows,
‘The twist is that one of you can stay but one of you has to go. The two of you have to choose who’s going to stay and who’s going to go,’
Jennifer just burst into tears and was sobbing her heart out. Through the tears of relief she told Kate Garraway,
‘Thank you so much, cos I want her to stay. She’s staying!’ she said to the rest of the group,
‘Help her get that weight off. Keep her strong!’
Everyone in the room was beaming and very obviously pleased with the little twist this week. Jennifer had something to say to all of them,
‘Well, I’ve always said that Carol is Sadie’s 2nd mum and Sadie absolutely adores her. Katey, you’ve got another sister. Kevin and Mark, you’re two great lads, I know you’re a great dad Kevin, you’re wonderful!’
Kevin replied,
‘You’re a good mum, you’ve just proved that!’
Jennifer continued,
‘and I know you’re going to take care of Sadie, don’t let her be on her own. Keep her smiling, keep her strong. And Miriam, sweetheart, we’re so glad we weren’t up against you this week because that would have been devastating for us to cope with. You lost your sister this week and you’ve gained another one. Now girls, you keep us giggling, keep Sadie happy. I know you love her, she loves you too and you’re a lot of fun. Dave, I keep calling you Dad cos you are dad. Dad of the whole group. All of your jokes aside, I know you’re a good man. And Jamie, sweetheart, you’re cute as a button. I know you’re going to take care of our girl,’
Mark told Jennifer that she was fabulous and that she would be missed. Sadie said that she was proud of her mum and that it had taken a lot of guts to go to the Biggest Loser house anyway and when you’re not losing very much weight that it makes it tougher.
Kate Garraway said,
‘This has been very emotional this Elimination. I think we’ll all agree. Look at the state of the Pink team!’
Red eyed and runny nosed the Pink ladies grinned through their tears while everyone else were wiping their own noses and eyes!
Angie’s Team
Angie was pacing the floor waiting for her team to arrive and give her their results. Richard and Angie don’t like this part of the week as neither of them like to lose. The Greys entered the room first and Angie seemed pleased to see them. They told her their results and then Jamie told her he would like to have a chat with her afterwards. Angie said later,
‘Something is just not looking good with Jamie. I can just feel that he’s looking pretty miserable, looking pretty down and uptight. He says to me that he wants to have a chat and that’s never a good thing when someone says that to me to be honest with you so, I wasn’t quite sure what was coming,’
Miriam was next into the room and Angie said,
‘Hey Miriam. Wicked!’
Then Angie was waiting for a hint of Yellow. The door finally opened and Sadie came in. Angie said,
‘Sadie walks in so, it’s great to see a some yellow but, I just needed a little bit more yellow because there’s no Jen which is bizarre! Can’t get my head round that!’
Sadie explained to Angie what had happened and how they had done with their weight loss. Angie told her she wasn’t overly pleased with her weight loss but they both agreed it was down to portion sizes. Overall though, Angie said she was thrilled that Sadie was still there because it meant she had another chance to go for it.
Richard’s Team
Richard was happy to see the Pinks again and asked for their results. Although they don’t make massive numbers each week, they are fairly consistent. Richard said,
‘It may not be fireworks and big grand parades but, you’re knocking it off. Week by week losing the pounds!’
Obviously, he was very happy with the Brown team’s results. He laughed and clapped when Mark told him he had lost over a stone and then shook his hand. Then Kevin told him his results and he told him well done. Later, Richard said,
‘Kevin, Kevin. He’s had some big numbers initially but, it’s slowing down and the gap between him and Mark is increasing and it’s getting to him,’
When the Green team popped round the door, Richard laughed and said,
‘Yessss! The training group are back!’
Angie and Jamie’s Chat
Jamie told Angie that he wasn’t happy with her training methods and he thought that swapping trainers would be good for him. He said that not being in his dad’s group might help him too because he didn’t like being constantly compared to him. Angie told him that there was no point crying about it and he should go all out to prove that he was as good, if not better than his dad. She said,
‘So listen okay, let’s sort this out here. Basically, the reason you’re not having a good time and the reason you’re angry and crying and all that is because of me basically?’
Jamie said,
‘Basically that’s what I’m saying yeah,’
She replied,
‘At the end of the day I’ll accept it. I disagree with it and I am slightly offended by it because I thinks it’s actually completely another excuse but, if you can go and work with Richard and get your 15 stone off or whatever and stay alive, I’m a happy lady because this ain’t about me. I guess we need to go and speak to Richard and get sorted cos we need to get on and you need to start training,’
Angie went to find Richard and explained about Jamie’s request to change trainers. Richard asked what made Jamie think that his style was any better than Angie’s. He said he was a quitter and what made him think that Richard’s style of training would work any better than Angie’s. He told Angie that if he was her he wouldn’t be so giving about it all. She said,
‘Who cares Rich? If you can work with him and you can turn him around then all power to you!’ she went on to say,
‘I’m not going to pretend I’m happy. It’s about him walking or going with you, of course he needs to go with you. And you can do a good job with him. I trust you Rich, I know you will,’
Richard went to speak to Jamie to get the rules straight if he did decide Jamie could join his team. He asked Jamie what he would bring to the group if he did agree. Jamie told him that he would bring determination and team spirit. Richard told him,
‘We don’t do excuses, we don’t do tears, we don’t do tantrums. We just graft. You’ve got a target of 10lbs this week. Get me to 10 and we are cool. Is that clear?’
Richard went back to his training group with Jamie in tow and told them they had an extra team member. Carol said that she thought it would make the Browns nervous and work harder.
Progress
Angie got her team to do the tractor tyre tipping that they had done the first week. She wanted to compare how far they had come in the three weeks they had been there. Sadie did say afterwards that although it was still hard, she had found it a little easier. Angie was really happy with their improvement when they had finished the session – completely exhausted and covered head to toe in mud! She told them she was really proud of the progress they had made.
Covered in mud, Sadie asked Angie did she want a hug. Angie said,
‘No way man! Get away from me!’
After the session, Angie said,
‘I needed that. I’d had a rough day. I had to lose Jamie. My head could have gone down but, the fact is, what they gave me just gave me hope that, actually, all is not lost!’
All Change
During his training session, Richard egged the Browns on with the thought of Jamie catching them up. Jamie beat Mark at the first part of the race and trained really well. Kevin said,
‘Within 10 minutes, he’s beaten Mark in the first race, wearing a 22lb vest. Mark’s got a little bit of a chase on his hands and I think that might have really, really kind of got to him a little bit!’
In the second part of the race, Jamie was hot on Mark’s heels again but then slipped on the mud and fell heavily. Richard said he thought,
‘Oh here we go. What’s going to happen now?’
But Jamie just got back up and continued on. Wonders will never cease! All of his new training group gave him a round of applause when he did get to the end of the race and they all seemed to be a bit more positive about their new team member.
Will Jamie being in their team rub Mark up the wrong way and what delights does the week have in store for the remaining contestants?
