It was Elimination Night yesterday in the Biggest Loser house and the contestants are finding it harder to choose each week!
The Condemned’s Last Words
Sadie said that she wasn’t sure if she was going home or staying. She felt that she was really close to some people in the house, particularly the Pink ladies and the Green team. But she said,
‘With this being the third time I’m below the Yellow Line I think my chances are not as good as before. People might think, okay she’s had enough chances so she should go home,’
Miriam said that she had come into the competition as a pair and that it was a shame that Eunice was unwell and had to go home. She said,
‘She was still able to come back as long as I am in the competition. I feel gutted that if I lose the place I’m not just losing the place for me but, I’m losing the place for her,’ So no pressure there for Miriam eh?
Deliberation
The other contestants had to decide who they were going to send home – Sadie or Miriam. It does seem to be getting harder for everyone to choose as the group becomes smaller. While Carol and Katey were in their room trying to make up their minds, Carol said,
‘So much of what you personally feel about a person seems to come into it doesn’t it?’
Dave was worried about what Angie would say when she found out that both people up for Elimination were on her team and that he had to vote one of them off. Guess he felt a little like he was betraying his training team!
Mark, obviously not relishing the thought of Miriam going said,
‘I think a lot about Sadie. She’s a young girl who needs to get this right and she’s struggling to get it right. And on the other hand, Miriam’s probably the closest person to me in the house. I spend a lot of time with her, talking and chatting and she helps keep my mind set right,’
Frustrated and Worried
Kate Garraway spoke to both Sadie and Miriam in the Elimination Room before the other contestants came in to give their votes. She asked Sadie if being up for Elimination three times made it any easier. Sadie said that it got worse and worse. She said that when you have been under the Yellow Line you push yourself harder and that she found it frustrating because she was there yet again. She said,
‘If I do get eliminated I can’t let it all fall apart!’
Kate Garraway asked Miriam how she felt knowing that it could be the end of the line for her and her sister, Eunice. Miriam said that it was a hard burden to carry. Kate asked her if her reasons for being in the house had changed – originally she was there to support Eunice to lose weight so she could have fertility treatment to have a baby. Miriam replied that yes, it had been a bit of a reality check but that she hadn’t forgotten that she was here for Eunice too. She said that she would miss Sadie and Mark if she went.
Kate asked would she keep in touch and Miriam said that she would definitely, 100%. When Kate asked her if there was definitely a romance blossoming, she said it was too early to tell but that she was good friends with Mark and that she would miss him.
Elimination
As the contestants came into the Elimination Room, Kate Garraway said that they had some tough tasks to deal with during their time at the Biggest Loser house but that it was obvious they found the voting to be one of the hardest. She went on to say that there were an equal number of people this week so, if there was a tie, Jamie and Dave would have the casting vote as this week’s Biggest Losers.
The Pink ladies voted first. Michaela was very emotional when she gave their reasons for voting. She said that they thought this person would do very well and continue all their hard work at home. They voted to send Miriam home.
Dave and Jamie were next. Dave said,
‘It’s particularly hard for me because we’re the only three left in Angie’s training team so I’ve been training with both of them all the time and I’ve seen both their ups and downs. I just want to say it’s been a pleasure. But I do feel one of them has a bigger support network outside the house than the other one so, I’m going to let this person go home to her family and get the support she needs outside,’
The Greys voted to send Miriam home too.
Kevin and Mark had to vote then. Kevin said that it was a very tough decision and that as the group got smaller it got more and more difficult.
He went on to say,
‘Both of you have been outstanding. When you came in here all those weeks ago you’ve gained so much both of you are going to manage fine on the outside. You’ve had your ups and downs and you’ve got through them so we’ve found it really, really difficult to some up with a decision,’
They chose Sadie.
The Greens were the last to vote. Carol said that it hadn’t been easy or straight forward. She said that she didn’t like to be in this position and she knew what it was like to be at that end of the table. She said that the person they had decided to send home was incredibly motivated no matter how many times they’d been shouted at and whatever had happened to them. She did say that they felt they had to vote tactically this time as the person they wanted to send home was their biggest competition. They chose Miriam.
So, that was it, three votes for poor old Miriam. She would be going home and Eunice wouldn’t be able to re-join the competition. Miriam said that she had learnt an incredible amount in the time that she had been in the house and that there was a new Miriam emerging. She wished the rest of the contestants good luck and told them to work hard. She said they had got a precious place in the house and when she sees them again, she hopes to see much less of them!
Kevin told her,
‘Don’t stop smiling!’
Split
At the end of the Elimination, Kate Garraway gave the contestants a shock and told them that everything was going to change from now. They would no longer be in the coloured teams but there would be two teams. Angie’s Black team and Richard’s Blue team and they would be split up into those teams. Each week, the team with the biggest combined weight loss would be safe. But, the team with the lowest would then have to choose someone from their team to go home. Oooooh, that could really set the cat amongst the pigeons!
Those contestants that hadn’t worked with Angie before were absolutely petrified of being put into her team. Maria was nearly in floods of tears at the thought of it because she had a session with Angie before and didn’t cope very well with it. The look of shock and pure panic on her face was mirrored by Carol and Michaela.
Carol said that she felt Richard’s team had had more success with the way he trained so some of the contestants feared the change because of that. Michaela and Maria said that if either of them ended up in Angie’s team, they would both go home!
Dave said,
‘Some of the contestants have become too reliant on their trainers rather than themselves so that’s why they are now in distress and panic about possibly being moved,’ He went on to say that he felt it was down to the way Richard had made them feel part of a team but Angie treated them as individuals making it easier for Angie’s team to adapt to the change.
Moment of Truth
Both trainers were stood outside the house, waiting to find out who had been Eliminated and who would be in their teams, Angie said,
‘We were both dying to know who was going to come through those doors,’
As the contestants came through the door Angie looked totally devastated that she had lost Miriam. She was pleased to see Sadie but she felt that she had built up a strong bond with Miriam and that she had come so far.
Richard was surprised to see the Pink ladies. Although they consistently lost weight each week, it was never very big numbers. He said that he felt very nervous about who was going to be in his team as he had built friendships within his team.Sadie wanted to stay in Angie’s team. She said that Angie gave her that little bit of fear that she felt she needed to push herself.
Team Angie
Angie opened her envelope to see who would be on her team. It would consist of:
- Dave
- Kevin
- Carol
- Maria
- Sadie
When she called Dave’s name she said,
'Dave the Rave – welcome home!’ He replied,
‘Black always makes you look slimmer!’
Maria said that her heart literally sank when Angie called her name. As she walked across to claim her new black t-shirt she looked like the world had ended! Kevin had mixed feelings. He said,
‘To be absolutely honest with you, when Angie called my name out I was quite shocked. It wasn’t exactly what I expected. But then, all of a sudden a switch went in my head and I thought, right go and get your t-shirt on, time to work!’ Perfect attitude!
Angie said,
‘I think I’ve got an amazingly strong team. I really do. Potentially we could just annihilate those guys!’
Team Richard
That left Jamie, Katey, Michaela and Mark on Richard’s Blue team. Katey said she was very relieved to be with Richard and gave him a great big hug as she collected her new t-shirt.
Richard said that it broke his heart to see Kevin go. Kevin reached across, shook his hand and thanked him for everything he had done so far. But he seemed happy with the team he had. He said,
‘I’m happy with my Blue team. They’ve all got strong characters and they’ve all got reasons to be here,’
Will the rivalry between the two trainers and their teams bring up bigger numbers on the scales come weigh in day? Could be interesting.
Settling In
Maria and Carol were both dreading their first sessions with Angie. Carol didn’t want to let anyone down and Maria was just plain scared! Maria said later,
‘Angie’s first session was pretty tough but, Angie did say a few words to me which were quite encouraging,’ she went on to say,
‘Today I learnt about Angie that she’s not this big monster that everyone has said. I think she can be very understanding and I think if you give her what she wants then she will be very pleased with you,’
Angie was very disappointed with Sadie during the training session though. She said,
‘Dave straight away was definitely the strongest fitness wise. Kev was determined and Maria amazingly determined – really impressed with her. Sadie was a complete mess basically!’
She told her team that anyone not pulling their weight from now on would be dragging the whole team down and that the team wouldn’t tolerate that.
When the training session had finished, Angie sent everyone in but Sadie. She made her stay and do some more laps. Sadie said later that she couldn’t let this happen again. She didn’t want to let Angie and the team down. She was really annoyed with herself that, although Angie gave very simple instructions and knew what she wanted from everyone, she hadn’t been able to deliver.
So, two teams now head to head. Which one will come out fighting and lose the right numbers to stay on top?
