It was the dreaded Elimination in the Biggest Loser house in the last episode with the Blues up for Elimination. Trust is an issue and the Blue team seem more divided than ever.
Insider Trading!
The Blue team are up for Elimination and all of them have to pack their belongings just in case they get voted out. It’s a crucial time for them as there are only two more weeks before the final and no one wants to go home this close to it.
Jamie and Katey were chatting in one of the bedrooms when Kevin came in. Jamie said later that he knew what he was coming in to say. Kevin told Jamie and Katey that he wanted them both to vote to Eliminate Mark. He went on to say,
‘It’s because of the character he is and I know that he would happily vote any of us out,’
Jamie said that Kevin was giving them very good reasons to vote Mark out of the house but Jamie said to him that whatever decision he makes it will be his decision with no outside influences. Kevin said later,
‘When I left Jamie and Katey in the room I wasn’t sure whether the message that I was telling them had got through to them because I know they are a bit torn about the decision they are gonna make,’
Katey said to Jamie, once Kevin had left the room,
‘Obviously, we said we were going to vote off Lisa yeah? But now we don’t have that choice because she’s got immunity and our Plan B, are we sticking to that?’
Jamie said he wasn’t sure now. Both of them then went into Mark’s room and told him what Kevin had said. Mark said,
‘It’s obvious Kevin wants me out of the way because that leaves the path free for himself. This might sound a bit ruthless but if the three of us agree to vote Michaela off, next week Lisa’s on her own and we’re in a three pact, we can get rid of Lisa. She can go,’ Katey understood what he was saying and said,
‘We’d all be in the final week,’
Mark said later,
‘When I found out that Kevin was trying to influence Katey and Jamie to vote me off, I just thought, I know they’re young but they can’t be that stupid that they cannot see that he wants me off so he can win it himself!’
Michaela was talking to Lisa and Maria about who they thought would be voted off. Lisa said,
‘The thing is Katey won’t vote for Jamie and Jamie won’t vote for Katey because they’re in love or whatever’s going on there. Mark wanted to vote for me but is now really gutted because I get to stay. So, Mark will either vote for Katey or for you!’
Michaela is convinced she will be leaving this time. Maria tried to say to her that she didn’t know that for certain. The old saying between them when they were Pink ladies, we came in together and we leave together, was bandied around again.
The Blues are definitely divided as to who to vote off. Katey said that she thinks if Mark goes they would be closer as a team but then, on the other hand, she does think they need him for the weigh ins and the challenges. She pretty much summed up how all of the Blues are feeling at the moment! She also realised that there was a possibility they would all turn on her and send her home. She said,
‘Who do you trust in here?’
Elimination Room
The Blue team finally headed into the Elimination room with their decisions. Michaela said that as she walked into the Elimination room, she was really nervous – probably echoing how all of the Blue team felt! The only one of the team that felt safe was Lisa!
Lisa has immunity this week as she has only just re-joined the house. But, she does still get a vote. The person with the most votes will be Eliminated and, as always, if there is a tie, the winning team gets the casting vote.
Mark hasn’t been up for Elimination before and Kate Garraway asked him how it felt. He said that he thinks everyone sees him as a threat but he hoped that they realised he would be an asset to them as well. Kate said that since he’d been in the house he had lost over four stone. She said that some people would be happy with that as their final loss so hadn’t he done enough already? He replied,
‘I was the second heaviest person when I came in this house, I’m still greatly overweight. I’ve got a long, long way to go. Every week I can stay in the house, it’s a week closer to my goals of weight loss. I’ve been overweight all my adult life, I’m 40 years old now, I want to start living a bit of life and doing the things that I want to do and not have my self image in my way, holding me back!’
Michaela also hasn’t faced Elimination before. She said she definitely wasn’t ready to go and didn’t like being on this end of the decision. She said the journey so far had been a great experience and she wasn’t ready for it to stop just yet.
Kate Garraway said to Katey that she had lost the lowest percentage of body weight this week and how did she feel about that. Katey said that she couldn’t have done any more this week than she had. She was happy with the 6lb that she had lost – she was proud of that and hoped the team were as well. She said that her team could see how much effort she is putting in.
The Decision
Kate Garraway asked the Blues to tell her why they were voting for the person they wanted to Eliminate first and then who that person was. Katey was first to reveal her decision. She said,
‘I’ve been in two minds about this decision. It’s been extremely difficult but, I’ve had to think about it from beginning to end what’s going to be best. And although this person has helped me a lot, I now have to help myself,’ She voted to send Mark home. She was still upset about her decision. Kate Garraway asked her why and she said that she didn’t want to send anyone home.
Kate Garraway asked Mark to vote next. He echoed Katey when he said that it was a very difficult decision because they are all part of his team and that everyone needed to be in the house. He said that his decision was based on an odd thing – he voted for the person that he thought had found it the most difficult to detach themselves from the Black team and be fully integrated into the Blues. The person he voted to send home was Michaela.
Michaela gave the reasons for her choice next. She said,
‘The reason that I’m sending this person home is because they do really work hard in the gym and at every session and this person has to go because it’s a competition and we need to get that person out,’
Her vote went to Mark. That meant that Mark had two votes against him and Michaela had one vote against her with two more people to vote.
Jamie was next. He said that the person he was voting for worked hard in the gym, gave it everything they’d got all the time but, for him, he felt the person’s actions from the start dictated the decision he was making. Although he felt the person had changed a lot over the last few days, that didn’t take away from what had happened before that. He chose to send Mark home.
Mark was being Eliminated! Even though her vote didn’t matter now, Kate Garraway asked Lisa how she would have voted. She said that she was going to vote for Mark too. Kate Garraway asked her what her reasons were and she said,
‘Purely because I was 90% positive that if I didn’t have immunity this week, Mark would have voted for me,’
Kate Garraway told Mark that it did mean he’d been Eliminated. She said that she hoped he’d had a positive time on the Biggest Loser. He said,
‘I’ve had a fantastic time. I’ve done what I came here to do which was get myself on my way to being fit and healthy, lose a lot of weight,’
She asked him of there was anything he wanted to say to his teammates before he went. He said they needed to keep the Blue team in there and work really hard. He said it would be a shame to see the Blacks take over and that the Blues needed to give it their all. He told them to make sure they had no regrets. He went on to say,
‘I’m leaving today and I’ve got no regrets. I’ve enjoyed my time in the house, I really have. The biggest thing that I’m taking home from here is it’s ok to lose weight and actually eat. Whenever I’ve dieted before, I’ve starved myself so as soon as you come off that the weight just goes straight back on. But, if you eat sensibly, eat healthily and eat a lot of the right stuff then it’s gonna come off and you’re not going to yo-yo. That’s been the biggest problem in my life!’
All of the Blue team said later that the person who was on his way to winning the Biggest Loser was Mark and, at the end of the day, it is a competition. Katey said that he was the only person she could see standing in her way. So their voting was definitely strategic.
Carol hit the nail on the head though. She said,
‘His main crime is being good at doing what the rest of us want to do!’
Mark said later,
‘They say life begins at forty and for this man it does. I’ve never felt fitter, I’m a lot happier with myself. I can see my life changing for the better and changing for the rest of my life! I’ll be returning to that final and if I can I want to be the person who’s lost the most weight. I might not have the title of the Biggest Loser but I want to be the Biggest Loser!’
The Aftermath
After Mark had left, the Blues and the Blacks met up in the kitchen. They all seemed to agree that they would all get on much better in the house without him. Jamie said to the other contestants that Mark had rubbed each and every one of them up the wrong way at some point, even if it hadn’t been intentional. Maria said that when she walked passed him and smiled at him, he would look through her just as if she was invisible. There was no connection between him and the other contestants. Jamie said,
‘We all had issues with him and we all feel that now he’s gone it’ll be an easier time to get through over the next two weeks,’
Kevin said later,
‘So is it a good feeling Mark not being around? Yeah I think it is actually. I think everyone’s a little bit happier,’
But will the Blues be quite as happy tomorrow when they have to face Richard and tell him that they voted off his ‘heavy hitter’? Doubt if he will be quite as pleased as they are to see the back of the strongest member of their team!
The Good News . . .
Angie and Richard arrived back at the house to find out how much their teams had lost in weight and to see who was Eliminated. Both of them were pacing the floor like restless lions!
Angie said,
‘So I’m in the Billiard room waiting to see if I’ve got all my team and it’s the most nervous I’ve been, without a doubt!’
Angie was very pleased to see Carol and when she heard that Carol had lost 7lbs she roared with pleasure! And then, when she told her she was the Biggest Loser for the week, Angie said it had been an incredible week for her.
Maria walked in and Angie said well done to her and gave her a hug. When Angie asked her what her weight loss was, she told Angie she had been focussing on 5lb all week. Angie punched the air when Maria told her she had got the 5lb.
Kevin walked in next and Angie punched the air again. She was pleased to see him but really wanted to know what his numbers were and whether their positive thinking experiment had worked. She said she wasn’t sure if she wanted to ask him! He said the Universe is a wonderful thing. She replied,
‘Don’t tell me you got eight?’
He said he had and she ran over to hug him and clap him on the back!
Angie was then waiting for Sadie to come in. They waited for a bit and then Kevin said,
‘Ange, there is one thing we’ve got to tell you,’
She said,
‘Oh this doesn’t sound good!’ a look of pure panic on her face.
Kevin went on looking very down,
‘It’s been a very interesting weekend. And, er, a few dramas happened,’ then he grinned and in walked Sadie!
He had been winding Angie up making her believe that Sadie had gone home! Naughty scamp!
Angie was so pleased that she had got her whole team back this week. She asked Sadie for her number. Angie said she was nervous. Sadie sighed and said,
‘Well what I lost was er . . . 9lbs!’
They are so cruel to poor old Angie, making her believe they hadn’t done as well as they actually had. But then, she has been a little cruel to them in the past!
Angie said later,
‘So I’ve got my whole team, that’s brilliant! All of them are there. How scary for the Blue team. Not only do we win, we can choose exactly what numbers we want and we get them. That’s pretty amazing!’
Then she asked what had happened with the Blues. Kevin told her that Mark had gone. She was shocked and said that their big hitter had gone. She went on to say that the Black team are ‘all over it now’ and that the Blue team must be terrified.
. . . And The Bad News!
Richard was pacing in the kitchen rubbing his hands together with nerves. He said later,
‘The worst part is the waiting in the kitchen. Just waiting for someone to open that door and put my mind at rest!’
The first person to walk in was Lisa. Richard said that was one down, a few left to go. He asked how her weigh in had gone. Lisa told him that she had lost 1 stone 7lbs before she was weighed on Friday. She also said that Kate Garraway had told her she had lost 7lbs in the few days that she was back in the house. Richard told her he was expecting no less than double figures from her.
Katey walked in next. Richard said welcome back and congratulations to her and had a little grin on his face. He asked her what her numbers were this week. She grinned from ear to ear and told him 6lbs. He breathed a big sigh and said thank you! He said he was happy with that and asked her if she was. She told him she was and she said she was hoping for the same, if not more, this week.
Jamie came in after Katey. Richard said good morning to him and mentioned the fact that he looked far better than last time because he’d had a shave. Richard said,
‘You’re looking almost attractive!’
He asked him how much he had lost and Jamie said that he had only lost 9lbs. Jamie said it was better than last week but not as much as he wanted because he was looking for double figures. Richard said that it was only 1lb off double figures and that 9lbs is big.
Richard was pleased to see Michaela. He asked what she had lost and when she told him he said yeeeeesssss! He calls her Little Miss Consistency and seemed pleased that she had lived up to her name. Then he said,
‘Well that’s four out of five for my Blue team,’ looking at the door.
‘I guess all we’ve got to do here is wait for Mark,’ you’ll be waiting a while Richard!
Then it dawned on him that Mark wasn’t coming through the door.
‘Wow! Didn’t see that coming!’ he said later,
He asked the team what happened. Jamie told him the Black team had equalled all of their numbers. Richard said they pretty much opened up a can of whoopass. Richard said later,
‘Mark doesn’t walk through the door and I’m thinking what have you done? They don’t realise what they’ve done. I mean, Mark’s lost in excess of 60lbs in his time here and they’ve just thrown him away. It’s almost suicide!’
Richard asked the team why they had chosen Mark. Jamie said that it came down to plea and the fact that in his plea, Mark had said that the Blue team needed him. Jamie said Mark was basically telling them that they couldn’t do anything without him. Richard said,
‘I mean the thing about Mark is that he is an animal! What I want you guys to do for the next two weeks is adopt some of his principles. He doesn’t gripe much and he’s relentless. So, my word for the week for you guys is think ‘relentless’! It’s now Blue team four, Black team four. It’s man on man, head on head. Pick your target and work against them. Don’t put me through this again!’
Angie’s Training Session
Angie said that she wanted to maximise on the buzz that her team would be feeling in the first training session and she said that they knew they’d got a clear sight into the final week if they work hard. Her plan was to get them to flip tyres because it’s a great fat burner. Sadie said,
‘The training session with Angie today was a lot of fun. I like tyre flipping and it was new to my other team members but they picked it up really quick and they were just flipping it over like they were professionals!’
Angie was really encouraging them as they were flipping the tyres. She kept telling Kevin that his main competition had gone and then she said,
‘That Blue team are terrified of us guys and so they should be!’
Angie had them working in pairs – Carol and Maria and Kevin and Sadie. Then she got them flipping the smaller tyres individually to get the speed up. Carol said later,
‘Flipping them tyres is flipping tiring isn’t it?!’
Richard’s Training Session
The Blues headed out into the fields for their training session, under no illusion that they were in for a rough ride from Richard. Richard told them,
‘You guys chose to let Mark go so I’m going to put my faith in the fact that you guys knew what you were doing. You knew you could do it without him so, you know what? Show me!’
They all had a set of bar bells each and they had to take them up from the floor to above their heads. Richard kept telling them they were doing it too slowly and they had to go faster. He told them that because they had got rid of Mark they had lost their guaranteed high number at weigh in. Boy, were they going to pay for that!
Jamie said that everyone in the Blue team had a point to prove. They needed to prove they don’t need Mark – particularly him. Richard said to him that although it pained him to say it, he needed him right now.
The last part of the training session was to pair them off and get them to run back to the house with two bar bells for each couple. He was explaining what he wanted them to do when Lisa said could they go because the bar bells were heavy. Richard said that because of her lip, they could do 10 squats before they went! Way to make friends and influence people Lisa!
Richard said that from now on he was going to rate them during their session between 1 and 10, with 10 being the best. He rated this session as a ‘competent 7’.
Team Games
With the mind games of the Elimination over, Richard and Angie have found that there is quite often a lot of tension in the house and the best way of combating that is with a team game.
So far they have done Football and Dodge Ball. This time they were going for Touch Rugby. Angie told them that the main thing was to run around as much as possible and use it as the great fat burner that it is.
So they started the game, Blues versus Blacks. Richard said,
‘It was just mayhem!’
Angie said that Sadie was just trying to tackle everyone. She even got Jamie round the throat at one point! Sadie said,
‘I understand the fact that I was just supposed to touch people but still, I kinda got carried away and kinda run at people and just pushed them because when I hear Rugby I think, you know, tackle! I did try to tackle Richard and to be honest it was because he was a trainer and I thought well, if I can get him down then, you know, the whole team’s down!’ Yeah, right! We know exactly why you tried to tackle Richard, Sadie! (And we would have done the same!)
Although Sadie was trying really hard, it was Kevin that got the first try. So it was 1-0 to the Blacks. Kevin said that he had never tried to play Rugby but the fact that they had a run around and got a sweat on was exactly what his team wanted.
Then, with just a little bit of help from Richard, Lisa scored a try! So one all then. Angie said the Black team should have been ahead but Sadie just could not get the rules! Jamie has a background in Rugby and he did really well. He said that playing Rugby reminded him of the good days in his youth where he used to play Rugby all the time. It brought back extremely good memories for him.
The Blues won. Angie said,
‘Yeah we did lose this but, you know, we win where it counts – on the scales, in the Challenge. That’s all that really matters to me!’
Richard said that he was proud of his Blue team. They won another game (they have actually won all of the team games so far), they had fun, they had a workout and they seem to be gelling again.
Unfortunately, the Black team may have a problem this week. The rigorous training has laid Kevin up in bed with severe back pain. Kevin said,
‘My back just started hurting – like a sciatica type pain affecting my left leg and also my lower back. If my back pain doesn’t go away it could be a bit disastrous,’
Angie said she was really worried about Kevin because she feels he is integral to the Black team. She said if he doesn’t come through, the Black team are in big trouble!
How long will Kevin be laid up for? How many more people can Lisa rub up the wrong way and what will Carol find on her first Biggest Loser trek?
