It was the Temptation Challenge in the Biggest Loser in this episode and the winner got immunity at the weigh in on Friday.

The Good News . . .

After winning the Push Me Pull Me Challenge in the last episode, the Black team had the pleasant task of telling their trainer, Angie, the good news.

They were all lying on the bed when Angie came into the room, all looking really dejected and down. There was a look of panic on Angie’s face when she saw them. She said she was a little bit nervous to ask how they got on because she knew the challenge was going to be an important one with the final week next week! Sadie told her that whichever team lost the challenge would automatically loose the person with the lowest weight loss percentage on Friday at the weigh in. The look of panic on Angie’s face turned to a look of horror!

Carol explained to Angie what the challenge had involved. She said there were two cars and a 7.5 tonne truck that had to pushed or pulled. Angie said,

‘Okay Black team, sounds like a pretty tricky challenge. But, I always said you’d be with me next week in the final week. If you haven’t won the challenge then that’s not going to happen so?’

Carol asked who wanted to tell Angie and they all said they didn’t want to. So Maria started telling her by saying that everyone had worked their hardest, making Angie believe they hadn’t won. Maria said,

‘But, unfortunately, we won!’

Angie screamed for joy and said, oh my God! She told them she was thrilled to bits and was really proud of them. She said she never really doubted them although she is always nervous when it comes to challenges and she knew this one was going to be big.

. . . and the Bad News

The Blue team were gathered in the kitchen waiting to tell Richard the bad news. He came in and sat down with them – probably a good thing he was sat down! He said,

‘You’ve had the challenge. I’m assuming we did good? So talk to me. What happened?’

Jamie explained the challenge to Richard and told him about the penalty for the losers. Richard said that was okay, it was just a bit of pressure and asked them what happened. Jamie told him that unfortunately, they had the strength but didn’t have the speed. Up til this point, Richard had a little smile on his face but when Jamie said that, the smile disappeared from Richard’s face to be replaced by a really worried look.

When Jamie told Richard they hadn’t won, he raised his eyebrows and sat back in his chair. He was obviously not happy because this meant he was definitely losing one of his team on Friday. And, of course, there would be the normal Elimination on Monday which could also be one of his team. Richard said later,

‘I’m absolutely gutted. And somewhat angry that I’m going to lose one of my Blue team regardless of what happens come weigh in day!’

Angie’s Trainer Challenge

Angie said she loves the trainer challenge. She said it was a good opportunity to add some healthy competitiveness within the team as well as giving them a really good workout and Angie gets to see how fired up her team are.

Angie said whoever won the trainer challenge that day would get some one to one personal training time with her in her gym in London after the show has finished. They all looked keen to win that prize – six weeks ago, they would have run screaming from the field in absolute terror!

Angie’s Challenge was to pick up the kettlebells, lock their wrists and hold them for as long as possible, the first person to drop it would be out. Angie did it in heats with Kevin and Maria up first. Kevin said,

‘I was up first with Maria and I’d seen Maria a few weeks ago on a Bosu Challenge doing a squat. I knew that she wasn’t going to give up really easily – she is a tough cookie!’

Maria said she heard Kevin breathing and she could hear that he was struggling so that made her all the more determined to stick with it and power through. She said she just focussed on something and worked through the pain! They were holding half of Angie’s body weight in those kettlebells!

Angie said,

‘Kevin and Maria did amazingly! I couldn’t believe that they got to 7 minutes! And I was starting to think, okay, we’re gonna be here for a while!’

In the end, Maria did have to give in first and Kevin put his hand on her shoulder and said,

‘God, she’s tough!’

So then it was Sadie and Carol’s turn and Kevin said that he thought Sadie had the upper hand for this drill because she has been in Angie’s training team from the beginning and she knows her way round a kettlebell. Angie said,

‘Like I said before, this bit feels easy. You’ll think yeah, no problem, I can stand here all day. When it kicks in, when the pain kicks in, it kicks in hard and it kicks in fast. Be ready for it okay?’

Sadie said she underestimated Carol. She said Carol picked up the bells and just went into some kind of Zen state of mind. She said Carol was just holding it and holding it and Sadie started to shake before Carol did! Sadie gave in first meaning Carol and Kevin would be going head to head. Angie said,

‘So we get to the final. Kev, Carol. That’s tough. They’ve just done it and then they have to do it again! That’s not nice. To be honest I wouldn’t have called it really cos Carol really did have a look in her eye that said to me, I’ll go all the way with this!’

Carol gave up first. Kevin said,

‘Carol dropped the kettlebells and I was absolutely relieved because what she didn’t know is that I was about to drop them as well!’

Kevin said that he was shocked because in week two he would shake any time Angie came anywhere near him and he didn’t want anything to do with her and her training methods. But now, he was fighting to get an extra session with her when he leaves the house! Angie said,

‘I’m delighted really. You know, we’ve come a long, long way me and Kev. So to get a one to one with him, back in London, that’s gonna be fantastic!’

Richard’s Trainer Challenge

As Richard walked out of the Biggest Loser house with the Blue tea following him, he looked like his world had crashed down around his shoulders after the team had given him the news about the challenge. He said later,

‘The Trainer Challenge today had to be tough because I’m already losing one person tomorrow and I’m not losing two!’

He told his team that he really meant business for this Trainer Challenge. The prize for his Trainer Challenge was a one to one session with him when they leave the Biggest Loser house.  Michaela said later,

‘I really wanted to win this challenge so bad because I felt that once I go home I’m gonna need all the help that I can possibly get. So, I really, really needed this because I thought, you know, if I want to win this whole competition, I need all the help so I just had to go for it,’

Richard’s challenge involved jogging round a lap that he had laid out including the front steps of the Biggest Loser house. The first four laps they would be wearing the 10kg weighted vests. As soon as any one of them had to walk or stop, they would be out of the challenge.

Katey said that she didn’t want to quit before Lisa did. She said she had been here longer than Lisa so her fitness should be better than Lisa’s. Katey felt she had a lot to prove. But Lisa didn’t think she would be able to do even one lap so, Katey was in with a chance!

Michaela was way out in front from the beginning and Jamie said that he was chasing her but, his energy levels were low and he didn’t have enough to keep up with her. She said that once the vest came off she felt a lot more comfortable and she just carried on. Katey said that everyone was puffing and panting with pain on their faces but they all kept going because they really wanted the prize!

Richard was very impressed with Michaela. He said,

‘Michaela was incredible and I don’t say that lightly. Michaela literally led from the front. On the runs, on the stairs. She even went back for Lisa on a couple of occasions!’

Michaela said that when she caught up to Lisa she felt sorry for her because Lisa was saying she had to give up and that this was her last lap. Michaela told her to just keep going, take small paces and keep going. She held Lisa’s hand up the stairs and encouraged her the whole way. Richard said,

‘So we’re going and it hits six minutes and I’m thinking, anytime now Lisa’s gonna go. Lisa didn’t. It gets to 12 minutes, I’m looking around, red faces, panting, sweat patches. I’m thinking, anytime now. It gets to 18 minutes. I’m thinking, I’m getting cold here, end it, please, someone. It gets to 24 minutes, they’re still running, no one’s quitting. In the end, 30 minutes of constant running. I have to say, you know what? Time for Plan B. Everyone stop, do the Gate Run. I need a winner!’

He told them to run down to the gate, touch it and run back. The first one back wins the prize. They all started running towards the gate and Michaela just shot off in front. She really wanted to win the session with Richard! Richard said,

‘Back when Michaela was a Pink Lady we did a run and she whined, complained and trotted in behind everyone, including Katey. Fast forward to week 7, she led from the front. She won this hands down and deserved it!’

Michaela was the first one back to Richard and as she ran towards him she had her arms outstretched and was saying that she couldn’t believe she had won and that she was going to have Richard one to one! She ran straight up to Richard and gave him a big, sweaty hug! She said later that she was absolutely thrilled to bits because it was the first ever Trainers Challenge that she had ever won and that the prize meant so much to her.

Richard said he was impressed with Jamie and really happy with Katey. He said that Lisa surprised him. She had run constantly for 30 minutes and, even at the end of the Gate Run where she could have walked it, she didn’t, she ran all the way. He said she may have come in last but it was a proud last!

British Bulldog

Angie said that she and Richard decided to play another team game to get the teams outside and show them they didn’t have to be in a gym to loose weight. They told the teams they were going to play British Bulldog! Jamie said,

‘When Richard and Angie revealed that we were playing Bulldog, I was thinking about when I was in Junior School playing it in the playground with all of my school friends and stuff like that. So I knew it was it was going to be fun!’

Kevin said the last time he had played it he was 9 and Lisa said she hadn’t played it since school. They were all looking forward to it because they remembered it being fun. Sadie said she had never played it before and didn’t really figure out the rules until the game got going!

Richard explained the rules. He said that one of them would be the Bulldog in the middle and the others would be at the other end of the play area. They had to run to get across to the other side without being touched by the Bulldog. If they did get touched, they had to join the Bulldog in the middle and stop the others from getting across. Richard said he needed one volunteer to be the first Bulldog. Kevin was really keen and said that he would be the first one.

So they were all ready to play with Kevin in the middle and the rest of the contestants at the other side of the play area. Kevin reached down to the mud, got some on his hands and wiped it all over his face! Richard said Kevin just started going crazy! Kevin said later,

‘I was out on the field and I saw the mud down on the floor and I saw the opportunity to really strike some fear into the people running across!’

So with mud all over his face and determination in his eyes, he started yelling at the other contestants, much to their amusement,

‘Let’s really play now! Who’s scared of me?’

Sadie said that Kevin is a little crazy and he gets himself all fired up and into this ‘crazy head space’ but it really spurs him on. He told the other contestants that he was going to get every one of them dirty, just like he was. Michaela shouted to him to ‘bring it on’!

Lisa thought he had just lost the plot! Richard said,

‘It started as a game and ended up as a scene from Apocalypse Now!’

Kevin got Jamie first and muddied him up. Kevin said later that the rules of British Bulldog state that he was only supposed to touch the other contestants but, he had other ideas. He had a hand full of mud and every time he caught someone, he ‘kinda rubbed it in their face’! Katey said,

‘The rest of the game of British Bulldog was just mayhem. Everyone was covered in mud, pushing people over and it was just really good fun!’

They were running round like lunatics, screaming and yelling just like they were five years old again while Richard and Angie stood on the sidelines nearly wetting themselves laughing! Angie said later,

‘That was like no British Bulldog game I’ve ever seen or I’ve ever played! They did lose the plot!’

Temptation Challenge

The teams walked into the room for the Temptation Challenge and there were eight plates of chocolate biscuits and treats and two big brown things on the table.

The instructions said:

Want To Win One Final Chance to Save Yourself?
In front of you there are eight plates on the table. But under one plate is a chance to win immunity and a guaranteed place in the final week. If you win immunity and you are a member of the Blue team with the lowest percentage weight loss, you will no longer be automatically Eliminated. That will be the member of the Blue team with the second lowest percentage weight loss.

Sadie said that most Temptations that she’s been into, she’s already got it in her head that she’s not going to play because she doesn’t like to risk too many calories before weigh in. But once she found out that they would be playing for immunity, she was really torn and wasn’t sure what to do. Katey said that because they had lost the challenge, this was like a lifeline being thrown to the Blue team. She really wanted the immunity because she thought she would probably be the person with the lowest weight loss percentage.

The brown tubes had the contestant’s names in one and the foods in the other. If a contestant was going to play, they had to eat what was pulled out of the other tube – a lucky dip.

Maria’s name was pulled out first and the food she would have to eat was chocolate mousse at 323 calories. Lisa was next and she would have to eat luxury milk chocolate at 280 calories. Next was Sadie with half a ploughman’s cheese sandwich at 270 calories. Then Carol with a cream and jam doughnut at 250 calories. Kevin had to eat cheese and onion quiche at 282 calories. Michaela was next with a cereal bar at 117 calories. Jamie had cheese twists at 135 calories and finally, Katey with chocolate biscuits at 147 calories.

Kevin asked Sadie if she was going to play or pass. She decided to play. Maria was asked next. She said later, she knew straight away she was going to play. She said, one it was a nice treat and two, she would be playing for immunity. Carol decided to pass. Kevin said his decision was a nightmare because he can’t stand cheese and onion quiche but they were playing for immunity, so he decided to play.

Kevin asked Katey next what she was going to do. She decided to play. She said later that she was quite pleased with the food that she got because it wasn’t massively high in calories. Lisa was asked next. She hesitated but decided to play in the end. She said that it was luck of the draw and that the immunity could be under anyone of eight people’s plates. There was no hesitation from Jamie. All Kevin did was say his name and Jamie came back with ‘play’ straight away! Then Kevin said ‘last but not least Michaela. She said,

‘You don’t have to ask me twice! I’m playing!’

So the only person not to play was Carol and everyone else had decided to risk it. So they all tucked in. When they finished, Maria said that hers was heaven! She said later that you could sense the tension in the room after everyone had finished because they all wanted to win the immunity. So, they went round the room, each one of them turning their plates over to see if they had won the immunity. Sadie turned hers over – no. Maria was next – no. Then Kevin – no. Katey was next – yep, there it was! Katey had won it. She said,

‘You do not understand how relieved I am to have immunity! I’m in the final week!’

She said later,

‘It was a very, very strange atmosphere in the room after I’d got immunity from Temptation. I was really excited, obviously cos I knew I was gonna be safe and I’d be here for the final week but no one else had that guarantee so they were all very down and still worried about the fact that they could be going home,’

Kevin said well done to Katey and then, to the rest of the contestants,

‘Let’s go burn these calories off that we’ve eaten eh? It’s hard work now,’

Unfortunately, a lot of the other contestants felt that Katey getting immunity was really unfair because they feel that she doesn’t put the effort in when Richard’s not around. Lisa was really upset because she said she knew it would be her going home. Kevin said that he would have been happy for anyone but Jamie or Katey to win the immunity and Maria said,

‘It does seem really strange and unfair that Katey will be here in the final week because I don’t think she deserves to be there!’
