The last Biggest Loser finalist was chosen last night and everyone had emotional homecomings!

Who Will It Be?

The remaining contestants need to decide who out of Jamie, Katey and Sadie they want to put through to the Final. Jamie and Sadie were in one of the bedrooms and they were discussing the situation. Jamie told Sadie that he would want to vote for her but felt loyalty to Katey and without the competition he was worried that Katey would go backwards.

Carol and Katey were also discussing the situation in their room. Katey said that having to vote between Jamie and Michaela last week was hard enough but, this week was going to be even harder because she is so close to both Jamie and Sadie.

Maria and Kevin were in the kitchen. Maria said that she felt that Sadie really deserved to be in the final because she had worked really hard, even though she has had her ups and downs in the Biggest Loser House. Kevin said that what they had to remember was that Jamie and Katey might not be motivated enough to do much once they got into the outside world but Sadie would be and that would make her very difficult to beat and strong competition. Kevin said later,

‘We was torn between two ways of thinking. One was voting with our hearts or voting with a tactical decision. It was touch and go what we would decide to do,’

Sadie said to Jamie that he knew she really wanted to be in the final and that she felt a little left out because the rest of her team were going through. Carol said that she felt there was pressure on the Black team to keep Angie’s dream alive and have all of the Black team in the Final. But that would mean Carol would have to vote for someone other than her daughter.

Elimination Room

All of the contestants met Kate Garraway in the Elimination Room to reveal their votes. This time, they wouldn’t be voting to Eliminate someone but to put them forward to the Final. Sadie said,

‘I was extremely nervous walking into the Elimination Room because I knew that one way or another I’m either gonna be a finalist when I leave here or I’m just gonna be another contestant,’

Jamie said that it was weird going into the Elimination Room this time because they hadn’t voted to keep someone in before. He said it was one of the biggest decisions he would ever have to make in his life.

Kate Garraway explained that Kevin, Maria and Carol were all guaranteed a place in the Final. The decision to be made last night was who out of Katey, Jamie and Sadie would join them. Kate Garraway said they could vote for the person they thought deserved a place in the Final most or the person they thought was the least threat - how would they feel if the person they decided to put through, beat them and won the title of The Biggest Loser? Katey, Jamie and Sadie were, obviously, not allowed to vote for themselves. Kate told them they had to think about who they thought really deserved to go through.

She asked Jamie what he would do with the prize money if he won it and he replied that he would buy his Mum some things that she needed like a new ventilator machine. He also said that he would take his driving test and maybe get a car. She asked Katey next. Katey said that she wanted to go abroad and teach in Asia. The money would mean that she could do that.

Kate Garraway asked Sadie that if she got the place in the Final, did she think she would be able to keep the commitment up at home and carry on losing the weight to kind of honour the place she had been given. Sadie said,

‘I think without a doubt, if I get to be a Finalist I’m just gonna go for it. I love my team mates but, if I do get that place it’s gonna be game on to be honest. I’m gonna give it everything I’ve got!’

The Votes

Starting with Katey, Kate Garraway asked the contestants to reveal the person they wanted to put through to the Final but, before they revealed the name, she wanted them to explain the reasons behind their choice.

Katey said that she had to choose between her two best friends in the house and that had been really difficult. She said that she had wanted the person she was choosing to be in the Final from day 1. She also said that she had made her choice because she wanted her Mum to win the Final and the person she had chosen had the lowest percentage weight loss apart from herself and she thought that would give her Mum a better chance of winning. No surprise there then? She voted for Jamie.

Jamie said that he’d had a lot of things to weigh up when it came to this decision. He thought about things like who needed it more and who would benefit more from it. He said that he thought the extra bit of competition would benefit the person he wanted to be in Final in the long run and give them extra motivation to carry on losing the weight. Again, not much of a surprise as Jamie revealed that he had voted for Katie.

Sadie said that she was voting for her choice because she felt there was more chance of there being a tied vote at the end of the voting with this person which meant there was more chance she would get through instead. She was very definitely voting tactically and using her head! Kate Garraway congratulated her for her honesty and asked her to reveal her who she was voting for. She had chosen to vote for Jamie. She was assuming that Carol would vote for Katey and hoping that Kevin and Maria would vote for her. That would mean two votes for each of them and a tied vote. She was taking a bit of a risk but, would it be worth it in the end?

Maria said that she had gone with her heart for her decision even though she knew it probably wasn’t a wise choice because this person had a good chance of winning. But she would really like to see the person she was voting for in the Final. She said she had never once heard the person moan at all and she had never heard this person say that they wanted to leave. She said it had been great to see the progress and the change in the person she was voting for. She voted for her fellow Black team member, Sadie.

Carol said that she knew everybody thought she was going to immediately vote for family but she said the truth was that she had two more family members in the house in Jamie and Sadie as she saw them as honorary son and daughter. She said because of that it hadn’t been a straight forward decision for her. She went on to say,

‘Saying that, I would give up my place here in a flash of a second to have Katey sitting where I’m sitting now. I came into this because Katey asked me to join her on this journey and I feel she’s given me a chance at life because I’m not facing Diabetes and heart attacks and strokes anymore. I would love to reward her with that,’

She had voted for Katey to go into the Final.

Kate Garraway explained that Katey had two votes, Jamie had two votes and Sadie had one vote. She told Kevin that all eyes were on him now. He said that lately, people had been voting with their hearts and he said he was going to follow suit and vote with his. Kate asked him why this person had got his heart. He said,

‘They’ve worked extremely hard. I’ve seen them really exhausted. They’ve supported other people. You know, they’ve made you laugh and they’ve made you cry. They deserve that place in the Final,’

He had voted for Sadie.

Kate Garraway said that they had a tie on their hands. She said they had been in that position before in the Elimination Room and, as with every week, the Biggest Loser from that week got the deciding vote and that would be Kevin. So the final vote came down to him. Kate told him he could take time to make his decision and that he didn’t have to vote the same way but, he did have to make the choice. He looked at Jamie, Sadie and Katey and said,

‘I don’t want to drive you mad, I don’t want to, the word is I want to put you out of your misery. I can’t change my decision. I’m really sorry Jamie and I’m really sorry Katey and Sadie, I’m gonna find it a bit of a challenge with you running behind me so it’s gonna keep me motivated over the next few weeks before that final. I think I need you there as my little benchmark!’

So the Finalists are Kevin, Maria, Carol and Sadie – the Black Team!

Kate asked Sadie if Kevin was going to regret his decision and Kevin said,

‘Absolutely I am. I’ll answer it for ya!’

Kate asked Jamie and Katey if they had anything they wanted to say to the people they would be leaving behind. Katey wished them all good luck and Jamie said,

‘It’s been fun and I wouldn’t have liked to share this experience with anyone else! Love you all,’

Then it was hugs and best wishes all round between all of the contestants, with a few tears and a lot of emotion.

Final Goodbyes

It was time for the Biggest Loser Finalists to say goodbye to their trainers, Richard and Angie who still didn’t know who had got the last place in the Final. They were both waiting anxiously in the gym. Richard said that they had been with the contestants for two months solid and he said it was his chance to say goodbye and thank you and to watch them go on their way.

The first person to go into the gym was Kevin. Angie and Richard knew he was in the Final because they had been at the weigh in. As he walked into the gym Kevin asked them which machine they wanted him on first! Angie told him he was lucky because it was all over now. She said,

‘You’ve done it. Job done. Business taken care of,’ and she gave him a great big hug.

Both Richard and Angie said that they were really proud of him. Richard said later that Kevin was a real trooper and had been rewarded by being the biggest loser in the house. He said that Kevin was leaving with his head held high. Angie said what really stood out for her was the change in his mind-set. She said later,

‘His journey for Richard and I is really what the competition is all about. Someone coming in in that state, completely, you know, out of shape, no real drive, no real confidence. And look at him now. Just a colossal difference!’

Carol came in to see them next. Angie said,

‘Here she is! Crazy Carol!’ and gave her a hug.

Angie asked her how she felt and she said that it was all a bit strange really because she never imagined all those weeks ago that she would still be here. Richard told her that she had earned her place in the house. Angie said later,

‘She was here, really, for Katey and to see her go through and see the way she has trained, overcome her fears, her panic attacks and cut the apron strings with Katey. Again, Richard had worked with her, I worked with her. For both of us it’s an absolute joy to see her come through and get into the Final!’

Carol said thank you to Richard for sorting her and Katey out. She said the chat they had all those weeks ago when Katey had wanted to leave was a pivotal moment for them both. She said she really believed that he had saved Katey’s life that day.

Maria walked in and Angie said,

‘Here she comes, the beautiful Maria! I was so proud of you today. Really, really proud!’

Maria said she just felt on top of the world knowing she is in the Final. She said it was the best feeling she’s ever had. Angie asked her if she knew why it felt so good – because she had worked for it and earned it. Angie said to her that she had faced the challenges and fears, lost the weight and done the training, that was why it felt so good. Maria said later,

‘I just feel so honoured to have been trained by these people. I mean for the first four weeks I had Richard, which was amazing. Having Angie, she’s a fantastic woman and I just feel honoured to know her and to be trained by her!’

Angie said that Maria was a changed woman and that was one of the most satisfying things, it wasn’t just about the weight loss. It was also about changing their mind-set, getting them some self esteem.

At that point, Angie and Richard had seen the people that they knew were in the Final. The next person to come through the door would be the fourth Finalist and they didn’t know who that would be. Angie said the nerves in her tummy were just going crazy. She said she kept thinking that she could have all of her Black Team in the Final and it was almost unbearable for her and Richard. Richard said,

‘My only fear was I don’t want to have a clean sweep. The Black Team can’t take all four positions, please! Anything but that!’

As the door knob turned, Angie was punching Richard’s arm as if to say, look, someone’s coming through. Then in walked Sadie and Angie roared with pleasure and went running across the gym to hug her! Although he looked happy for Sadie, Richard also looked a little sheepish and had a little ‘I can’t believe it’ grin on his face!

Angie walked up to Richard to give him a hug and said,

‘Rich mate, I’m sorry man!’

He said he was happy for Angie and Sadie - the Black Team had a clean sweep but, he said that deep down in the bottom of his stomach, he felt sick.

Both Angie and Richard told Sadie she so deserved to be a Finalist. Although Angie did admit she might be a little biased! But Sadie had worked so hard and Angie said that she couldn’t be any more proud of her. She also said that she was so happy that she had got all four of her team through – not that she was rubbing Richard’s nose in it or anything eh? Richard said, looking at Angie and then Sadie,

‘Although it hurts bad, I’m proud of you!’

Sadie said later,

‘Saying goodbye to Angie is emotional because I owe her quite a lot. I mean, I had no mental focus when I came here and she’s basically sorted that out for me. She’s built me up and told me repeatedly that she believes in me and that’s always made me work harder and that’s always kept me going!’

Richard said later that he hadn’t wanted to see the Blue Team disappear without a trace and he hoped that they turned up to the Final looking great and that they would stand up and be counted. He went on to say,

‘I take my hat off to the Black Team. They did good. I’ll see you next time Angie!’

Oooooh, throwing the gauntlet down for next time eh Rich?

Homecoming

The Biggest Loser Finalists made their way to their homes to see their family and loved ones again. Sadie said that she was most looking forward to seeing her Nan because she had really missed her and she had seen her Mum not that long ago.

She pulled up outside the house and went through the front door. Her Mum, Dad, Nan and brother Daniel were waiting for her in the living room. When she walked through the door, they all screamed and hugged and she told Jennifer she looked smaller! Jennifer said that she did too. Sadie’s Nan said she looked amazing. Sadie then said that she had got something to tell them all – she had made the Final! Ecstatic doesn’t cover the reaction she got from her family!

When Maria pulled up on the drive outside her house there were balloons and people everywhere! There was a big banner across the house saying ‘Welcome Home Maria’ with the words ‘We are proud of you’, ‘We all love you’ and ‘Well done’ all over it. Her husband and her boys were waiting for her on the drive with a group of family and friends behind them and, yep, there was the other Pink Lady, Michaela! The boys each had a bouquet of flowers for her and her husband was holding their beautiful Golden Retriever on a lead. They boys couldn’t hold back their tears when their Mum got out of the car and walked towards them and, when she got to them they hugged her like there was no tomorrow! The tissue box in this writer’s household definitely got a hammering! Maria’s husband said,

‘She looks fantastic! I can’t believe the transformation. When she got out of the car, the difference and the weight loss and the healthiness and everything you know? I mean Maria was beautiful before she went in and she’s still beautiful and healthy and beautiful now!’ Awwwwwwww!

She told the people gathered that she had lost 2 stone and 7lbs in the eight weeks she had been in the Biggest Loser House. Then she told them she was going to have to do that all again because she was a Finalist. They all cheered and clapped and Maria just looked so, so happy! She got the thumbs up from fellow contestant and best friend Michaela.

Carol was looking forward to seeing her husband and family too. She couldn’t wait for them to see the new her with the weight loss and the new hair! She said that Katey had gone ahead of her and she was hoping that she had got rid of some of the goodies that live in the hamper on top of the fridge! Carol let herself in the front door and then into the living room where her family were waiting for her. They cheered as she came into the room – all of them with big smiles on their faces which turned to pleasantly shocked looks when they saw how much she had changed! Gerry, her husband had a bouquet of roses and a big hug waiting for her. He said,

‘Carol’s come back looking really fit and healthy. She looks a different woman!’

Then Carol said she had some other news for them all. She told them she was in the Final. A huge cheer rose up from them all and Gerry had his hands up in the air! She told Gerry there’d be no more ‘Chippy’ and he groaned then she walked up to him, wobbled his belly and said, jokingly,

‘Look at this belly! What have you been eating?’

She said later that the Biggest Loser experience had changed her life and now she was going to change her family’s life too.

Kevin got his car to stop round the corner from his house. He said this was the moment he had been waiting for. When he was working out on the exercise machines and treadmills, he had been dreaming about running round the corner to his house, seeing his son Jonathan and giving him a big cuddle. He said he didn’t think that his son had ever seen him run. He said he’d always been a bit lethargic and fat! So he ran round the corner to his house and wife Sue was stood in the front garden with Jonathan waiting for Kevin to arrive. Jonathan screamed with delight when he saw his Dad and they squeezed the life out of each other in a massive cuddle! Kevin had been worried that Jonathan would forget him while he had been in the house – no danger of that Kev! No son could have been happier to see his Dad!

Wife Sue told Kevin he had shrunk – his face, his neck, his shoulders, his tummy and his arms! There was a banner welcoming him home over the front door and in the back garden were friends and family waiting to see the new Kevin.

He said to them that he wasn’t going to say too much about what happened while he was in the Biggest Loser house but he said what he could tell them was that he is in the Final. When he had told them, Jonathan ran to give him another crushing cuddle and all of the people gathered cheered and clapped. Kevin said later,

‘Being home is quite amazing really. I’m not gonna let it slip. My game is not gonna fall. This time I’m gonna keep on going cos I know that there’s other people doing exactly the same as me right at this moment!’

The Final

The Final promises to be a real big deal with the four Finalists competing for the Biggest Loser title and the £10,000 prize. Not only that but, the twelve contestants that have been Eliminated in the last eight weeks will also be coming back to show their new selves off and to try to win a luxury holiday for two with the weight they have lost on the outside.
Will they have succeeded in making the lifestyle changes they needed and stuck to their new health and fitness regimes? A glimpse of some of them in a clip of the Final says that yes, some of them are completely transformed!
